Candidasa

Your travel to Bali is not complete without visiting Candidasa, a beautiful village in Bali. Candidasa lies on the beachfront in Manggis, about 65 kilometres from Denpasar. A nearby temple houses important archaeological remains, including figurines and
statues, thus accounting for the area's popularity among tourists. Since the 1980s, investors have been buying up land on the white sand beachfront here and erecting scores of bungalows, cafes and restaurants.

Candidasa is a great place to get away from it all--a truly peaceful paradise, blessed with idyllic beach coves and dotted with charming home stays. Located on the north-eastern coast of
Bali, is the small village of Candidasa. A tranquil coastal area nestled between the Lombok Strait to the east and mountains to the west, Candidasa is within close proximity to many historical landmarks of Bali including Bali's mother temple, Pura Besakih, Tenganan (the aboriginal people of Bali) as well as the ferry terminal to Lombok. Some of the best diving and snorkelling areas in Bali are also within the Candidasa area. As Candidasa has become more popular with day-trippers, the demand for accommodations and eatery places has grown to wide selection that ranges from star rated properties to simple home stays. All in all, Candidasa is a great place to go for a few days of relaxation.

Penglipuran: A Village in Heaven

Bali is a real heaven on earth. Bali is not just Kuta Beach, Legian Beach, Ubud or other beautiful and famous spot in Bali. If you have a special opportunity to travel around the world you must visit a genuine Balinese village, Penglipuran. This village is a traditional countryside owning unique characteristic life, socializing and culture. It is located in Kubu Village, Bangli Sub district and Bangli Regency. The natural nature and environments of countryside is designating the pittance touch of modernization influence.

The specific cultural potential like pattern of building architecture remains to be traditional, the beautiful nature and environment with cool atmosphere, hence this countryside is the ideal place to visit during your vacation in Bali.

The beauty of this village is represented by the name of this village; some say that the word “penglipuran” is derived from the word “penglipur” means “entertainer” it is said that in bygone days the kings of Bali often went to this area to amuse themselves, since the beauty of this area is believed to bring peacefulness and inspiration. It is said that at former empire era, all king often use this area as a place to amuse themselves, because its nature is beautiful and can give the peacefulness and inspiration at the time of experiencing a problem. You will also enjoy this unique village.

Why is this village so beautiful and unique?

One of the best thing about this village compare with the other village in Bali is that the front houses shape are lookalike from the edge of the main village until downstream of village. The houses are order properly that the main area is located in a higher place and keep on decreasing until the downstream area. Despite of their same shape of physical look they also use the same materials in making the houses. For example they use the soil to colour the wall and for the roof made from “Penyengker”and bamboo for all houses in the village.

The residential areas of Penglipuran Village have a very particular look that is unique to the area and extremely aesthetically pleasing with rows of very small but tall traditionally built houses that are very decorative and with thatched roofs. These roads are straight and within the field areas meaning there is a tropical country feels as well as being very culturally interesting. All of these roads are in line with the direction of the mount Agung, which are the most holy peak and one of the most holy places on the entire island. This gives a lovely effect and also extenuates the impressive grandeur of Bali’s largest peak. These cobbled roads sharing their direction with the family temples that can be found in the gardens also facing mount Agung as with the rest of the island the mountain is very important to the culture.

In Penglipuran Village its importance is even stronger which is not surprising as it is likely that the villagers’ ancestors where the people who have suffered the most from the eruptions that have taken place in the past. This being said, there has not been an eruption for many years and although the peak is still deemed as active, another eruption is not expected for a long time. Wow...

Besakih Temple

Bali is island of Gods. There are thousands of temples in Bali. One of them is Pura Besakih, the Mother Temple of Besakih, in the village of Besakih on the slopes of Mount Agung, is the most important temple of Agama Hindu Dharma in Bali, and one of a series of Balinese temples. Pura Besakih is a must-go place. It signifies the oneness for the kingdom of Balinese Hindus.

Besakih Temple is located in Besakih countryside, Rendang sub district, Karangasem. Honestly, there are conflicting numbers on how many pura (temples) are there within the massive Besakih complex. The local pura guide mentioned of 28 temples, but many people believe that there are about 30 to 38 temples in Besakih temple complex.

Besakih Temple is the biggest Hindu temple in Bali which the local people call Pura Besakih. It owns beautiful view from the top of temple area where we can see the wide nature panorama until to the ocean so that way this temple is many visited by tourists from all over the world. The Besakih's name is come from the word of Basuki, the old language from Sanskrit Wasuki, and then it become the Ancient Java Language. In this Sanskrit, the Basuki means congratulation. In mythology of Samudramanthana has mentioned that Basuki is a dragon that twines the Mount Mandara. The omission has come from tradition megalithic which had been indicated that it had to be sanctified place. It seems the Besakih is coming from very old era which is far before the existence of Hinduism influence. Hereinafter, an Ancient Bali king of Sri Kesari Warmadewa found the Merajan Selonding Temple in this temple complex area. He also commands to build the Blanjong Monument that is located in Sanur Village.

The Besakih Temple complex is built pursuant to cosmos balance. It is based on the nature conception which is disseminating the fundamental temple complex that is arranged to pursuant of the way direction. So, this building can deputize nature as symbolic of the world balance existence.

Hindu's Philosophy

Balinese temple is always base on Hindu philosophy and combines with Balinese local wisdom. As we familiarize, that the point direction way like East, South, West, North, and middle as centre point and each direction is named by Mandala. In Hindu philosophy, Panca Dewata is manifestation of Siwa God. Like Penataran Agung Temple as centre, we find in its courtyard conception show the solidarity conception between the original
Indonesia culture namely tradition megalithic in form of Punden Berundak-undak with the Hinduism concept. The ancient omissions which is existing in
Besakih Temple complex can be classified into 2 types those are omission pertained by megalithic tradition and classic era. Besakih Temple beside as the altar for Hindu people in Bali, it is also as tourist destination which is a lot of visited by tourists.
